In 1957 GavharRakhimova was sent by the Ministry of Culture in order to select young people and create an ensemble in Khorezm to participate in the 6th Youth Festival. People's Artist of Uzbekistan GavharRakhimova chose GulsaraYakubova, MunavvarDavletova, Maryam Ihktiyorova, OtajonRajabov, UrinboyOtajonov, AnabiyiAkhmedova, OtamurodKhadzhiev and others in Khorezm. They studied songs and dances from a number of teachers and have some clothes sewn for the ensemble in the museum of Khiva. At that time, there were only 20-25 people in the ensemble and they demonstrated their first concert program to members of the commission in Urgench. The ensemble was received well by the committee and performances of the ensemble were shown in Bukhara, Samarkand, Jizzakh and Fergana valleys.
In Tashkent, artists of the ensemble prepared for the festival in Moscow with all the ensembles. At the World Youth Festival in Moscow, OtamurodHodjiev, a member of the ensemble won the first place with the “Lazgi” dance and "Lazgi" ensemble was ranked the second. In 1958, in connection with the anniversary of the decade of Uzbek art and literature in Moscow, KomiljonOtaniyazov was commissioned to prepare the ensemble. At that time, the ensemble was called "Khorezm song and dance ensemble".
During the governing period of KomiljonOtaniyazov, there were well-known teachers in the ensemble, for instance People's Artist of Uzbekistan Komuna Ismailova, Ruza Sapaeva, Sherozi Ata, Nurmamat Ata, Fazil Kharratov, Muhammadjon Mirzaev, Otakhan Matyakubov, Najot Turakhodjaev. In 1968 a suggestion to re-create "Lazgi" ensemble was announced. Gavhar Rakhimova was appointed to the ensemble as an art director. Since 1982 "Lazgi" was led by People's Artist of Uzbekistan OrtikO tajonov. In 1985-1988 the ensemble was headed by honored artist of Uzbekistan Ravshanoy Sharipova.
Subsequently, "Lazgi" ensemble was led by honored artist of Uzbekistan RahmatjonKurbanov from 1989 to 2007. At that time, the ensemble included Otamurod Khadjiev, Rashid Rakhmonov, Gulmammat Sobirov, Nurilla Jumaniyazov, Mavluda Oynakulova, Urbigul, Olmagul Shuriboeva, Nurjakhon Sattarova, Nazokat Jabborova, Hasan Karimov, Otamurod Bekchanov, Gulsara Yakubova, FeruzaSolihova, Ilgiza Zaripova, Zamira Gafforova and others. Dances of the ensemble were staged by Zukhra Giyazova. "Lazgi" song and dance ensemble performed their concert programs in Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, China, South Korea, Russia, Israel, Germany, France, Belgium, Czech Republic, Poland, Turkey and other countries.
The new period of "Lazgi" ensemble's activity started in January 2015. "Lazgi" song and dance ensemble was re-established by the decree of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan I.Karimov. OgabekSobirov, honored artist of Uzbekistan was appointed as an artistic director in the ensemble. "Lazgi" ensemble took part in several concerts within a short period of time. The first concert program of the newly created ensemble "Lazgi" was demonstrated at the Kizilkum stadium in Navoi, Uchkuduk, Zarafshan. KhurshidSobirov, AnvarSobirov, Zafar Kurbanbaev and Ogabek Sobirov participated in the first concert of "Lazgi" ensemble. Today, Ogabek Sobirov, Zafar Kurbanboev, Hulkar Abdullaeva, Anvar Sabirov, Rohila Ro'zimova, Feruzbek Normetov, Khurshid Sobirov, Dilmurod Otajonov, Bobur Sobirov and others work in the ensemble.
